The ODP file is similar to PowerPoint in that the file will be made up of slides that can comprise of text, images, hyperlinks, shapes and various animations/transitions that many would expect to see in a usual presentation. ODP files go by the full name of OpenDocument Presentation and were originally developed by Oracle. Other applications, such as OpenOffice from Apache or Corel Presentations, allow PPT files to be opened but may not support all features. PPT files can be opened with either Microsoft Office for Windows or Microsoft Office for Mac, and these programs support all the animation features. In 2007, the PPTX file replaced the PPT file as the primary file type used to save PowerPoint presentations. PPT files are not often built from scratch but, instead, users tend to select one of the many templates that are available and build on top of that.
